Long chapters, many subjects and very little time: this is the daily life of most students. Speed reading can help students finish reading faster while still understanding what they read. In this article, MJ Brain Academy shares how Quantum Speed Reading works, simple techniques you can try today and what to expect from a course.

What is Quantum Speed Reading?

Quantum Speed Reading is a program that combines speed reading with observation, visualisation, eye training, brain-gym exercises and music-based relaxation. The aim is to help students read faster, concentrate better and remember more of what they read.

At MJ Brain Academy, the course is designed for school students and is also useful for adults who read a lot for study or work.

Why do students read slowly?

Most slow readers are not "weak" at reading. They simply have a few habits that slow them down:

  • Saying every word in the mind – this limits you to speaking speed.
  • Going back again and again – re-reading the same line many times.
  • Reading one word at a time – the eyes stop too often.
  • Poor focus – the mind wanders, so lines must be read again.
  • No plan to remember – students read, but never check what they remember.

6 simple techniques to read faster

  1. Preview first. Spend one minute on headings, pictures and the summary before you read.
  2. Use a pointer. Move a finger or pen under the line. It guides your eyes and keeps you focused.
  3. Read in word groups. Train your eyes to take two or three words at a time.
  4. Stop re-reading. Move forward. Most doubts get cleared in the next lines.
  5. Reduce inner speaking. Try to see the idea instead of saying each word in your mind.
  6. Recall after reading. Close the book and write three key points from memory.

Eye training and focus exercises

Simple eye exercises can help you read with less effort. Move your eyes slowly left to right and up and down. Follow the tip of a pencil without moving your head. Blink and relax your eyes for a few seconds.

A calm mind also helps. Take three deep breaths before you start reading, and take a short break every 25 to 30 minutes.

A 10-minute daily practice plan

  1. 2 minutes – eye exercise warm-up.
  2. 5 minutes – timed reading with a pointer. Note how many pages or words you read.
  3. 3 minutes – recall: write down the key points without looking at the book.

Check your progress once a week. Small improvements add up quickly.

Speed reading is not magic

Be realistic: Reading extremely fast is not suitable for every text. Difficult textbooks and maths problems need slower reading. The goal is to read easy and medium parts faster and to slow down where needed. Understanding always comes first.

Frequently asked questions

Who can join a speed reading course?

School students, college students and adults who read a lot for study or work.

How soon will I see improvement?

Many learners notice small improvements when they practise daily. Speed and understanding both grow with regular practice, and results differ from person to person.

Will speed reading help in exams?

It can help you revise more in less time. Recall techniques also improve your understanding of what you read.

Is the course online?

Online batches are available. Message MJ Brain Academy on WhatsApp for the current details.

Does speed reading reduce understanding?

If you push speed too much, yes. A good course focuses on understanding and recall along with speed.
